Downtown St. Paul is the location of Maximized Living Doctor Brenda Kress’ practice. Like all certified practitioners in this unique discipline, she is acutely aware of the ongoing need for an adequate oxygen supply and the benefits of developing and maintaining lean muscle mass.

Many of us have a hard time figuring out how to work exercising into our regular daily lives. If exercise isn’t a favorite activity, the likelihood drops even further. That’s where a skilled coach can make a difference.

One of the many techniques in her bag of tricks is called Surge Training. This requires almost no equipment: hand weights and a clock with a sweep second hand. If you don’t have weights, just grab a couple of water bottles or a ream of paper. The idea is to pump the weights up and down while running in place for 20 seconds. Pump and run and get your knees up high. To start the exercise, work at maximum out put for 20 seconds, then stop. Rest for 20 seconds, then start again. Pump and run for 20 seconds, then rest for 20 seconds. Do this for a third time and you will have put in one solid minute of maximum output over a mere 2 minutes, but the benefits are cumulative and will last for a lot longer. With fresh, oxygenated blood pumped to the brain by both your heart and the calf muscles, you will be invigorated and clear-headed.

As with all Maximized Living certified doctors, Doctor Brenda Kress is well trained in the art and science of maximizing oxygenation and developing lean muscle. Her background and skill in designing and teaching exercise programs to all expertise levels makes her a perfect choice for helping you reach your personal life goals.
