6 Ways to Help Your Children Eat Right

According to the National Center for Health Statistics, nearly 20 percent of children between the ages of 6 and 19 are overweight or obese! Some of the risk factors of obesity include diabetes, high blood pressure, ovarian disease, heart disease, and unseen factors such as low self-esteem, diminished body image, and depression. At Aspire Chiropractic, your local Maximized Living Health Center, we encourage patents to be apart of a solution to this growing concern. Here are 6 ways you can become a force of change and a lasting example of health for your children.

1. Establish motivation for your children to eat well. Depending on their age, interests, and physical condition, children are all motivated by various factors. For a 3 year-old, it may be to grow tall, while for a 12 year-old it may be to be the best basketball player. Help identify motivators with your family and use these to encourage healthful food choices.

2. Make good foods easily accessible to children. Most children will reach for the very first thing easily accessible and visible to them. So try slicing up carrot sticks and place baskets of fruit on the kitchen counter.

3. Establish a regular schedule for meals and snacks. If you establish why and where to eat, it is worth the effort for children. This will provide a schedule to your children and also encourages a healthy attitude toward food and an understanding of its purpose.

4. Get children involved in grocery shopping. More then likely, they will go for what is colorful, and coincidentally, the more color, the more likely the food contains higher concentrations of vitamins, minerals, and micronutrients the body needs.

Aspire Chiropractic encourages men, women, and children to start living a maximized life and this is accomplished with proper nutrition, optimal oxygen, management of stress, proper pH, detoxification, and most importantly, maximum nerve supply.
